Category: the Rant Board

In the past, I have made the case that President Obama was NOT a Christian,
based both on his own words about what he believes and just as important,
his actions. You can go to the Liveprayer.com homepage and watch a very
compressive video that outlines exactly why President Obama lies when he
claims to be a Christian. The fact is, I can claim to be a giraffe, but
that doesn't make me a giraffe!!!

When asked why he was a Christian at a recent backyard campaign appearance,
here is how President Obama answered the question,

"I'm a Christian, uh, by choice. Um, you know, my family didn't - frankly,
they weren't, uh, folks who went to church every - every week. Um, my mother
was one of the most spiritual people I knew, but she didn't, uh, raise me in
the church. Uh, so I came to, to, uh, my Christian faith later in life, uh,
and it was because the, the, the, precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in
terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead - being my brother's and
sister's keeper, treating others as they would treat me ... also
understanding that Jesus Christ dying for my sins spoke to the humility we
all have to have as human beings, that we're sinful, and we're flawed, and
we make mistakes, and that we achieve salvation through the grace of God.
But what we can do, as flawed as we are, is still see God in other people
and do our best to help them find their own grace. So that's what I strive
to do, that's what I pray to do every day. I think my public service is a
part of that effort to express my Christian faith."

It is clear that without a teleprompter, President Obama's favorite word is
"um." However, let's look at what he said in making his claim to be a
Christian. The first thing that stands out is his claim that his mother was
one of the most spiritual people he knew. President Obama's mother was a
self professed ATHEIST! In past interviews, he has claimed his mother was
in heaven, despite the FACT she had rejected faith in Christ and because
according to President Obama, there was no such place called "hell."

He goes on to talk about how the precepts of Christ spoke to him in terms of
the kind of life he wanted to lead, being his brother's and sister's keeper,
and treating others as they would treat him. Sadly, that is what most
Muslims say regarding Jesus, as well as people who follow Buddhism and other
false religions, cults, and new age philosophies. Nothing he said here has
anything to do with being a Christian.

The President stated he understands Jesus died for his sins and that humans
are sinful and flawed. I was actually encouraged that he might actually get
it, until he finished by saying that "we achieve salvation through the grace
of God." Mr. President, that is only half correct. We achieve salvation
through God's grace, PLUS, our faith! Again, as he has in many other
interviews about being a Christian, at NO POINT has President Obama ever
spoken of his personal faith in Jesus Christ and that moment when he made
that personal commitment of faith through his freewill choice to surrender
his life to Christ.

This is not a minor issue. The Bible says that without faith it is
impossible to please God. We can't be saved because we go to church, or
because our parents were Christians, or by writing a check, or doing enough
good works. The ONLY way to be saved is by exercising our freewill choice
to accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior...BY FAITH!!! For my
Catholic brothers and sisters, SOLA FIDES!

President Obama than distances himself even further from Biblical salvation
by regurgitating that universalistic lie from hell he has spoken of over and
over in past interviews on his faith, when he speaks of helping others "find
their own grace." Excuse me? I am sorry, but grace by definition is God's
unmerited favor. You don't help other people find God's grace, you help
lead other people to saving FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST, since there is no other
name by which men are saved!

Allah can't save you, Mohammed can't save you, Joey Smith can't save you,
Scientology can't save you, Gandhi can't save you, Buddha can't save you,
nothing can save you but faith in Jesus Christ!!!!! That is God's one and
ONLY plan of salvation!

I love you and care about you so much. Please pray for President Obama and
his family to make a personal choice to accept Jesus Christ by faith and
give their lives to Him. Please share this with everyone you know, since
sadly, in this time where the better percentage of two full generations have
never been to church and those who do, for the most part, are in Biblically
illiterate congregations.

People need to understand that simply going to church and calling yourself a
Christian doesn't make you any more a Christian than standing on a runway
makes you an airplane! You are a Christian because you have put your faith
in the finished work of Jesus Christ, the ONLY ONE who died for your sins!!!

I would invite you to go to,
http://www.liveprayer.com/plan.cfm .
Pray to
ask God to open your heart, read the words, watch the short video, pray the
prayer, and accept God's free gift to you today of everlasting life!

Ugh, who cares.

Post 3 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Wednesday, 06-Oct-2010 23:04:35

political rhetoric wrapped in religion of some form, but anatomically, it seems, not really what a devotional generally consists of.

Post 4 by synthesizer101 (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 06-Oct-2010 23:55:11

Two things: First, wether or not Obama is or isn't a Christian doesn't matter. Look at the first amendment please, not the bible for a change. Freedom of religion. Second, you're putting this in the rant board, did you know? This belongs in religion topics, and so does your last three devotionals. Are you trying to obtain poster awards by posting things in the wrong board? Your doing very well. When I first saw one of your posts, you were at 34. Now, you're at 70. Good work, and read the constitution... Or no, wait, you'll start a devotional 5, and 6, and 7, and 8, about the Constitution defies the Bible, and I'm going in to shoot people in the Capital or something like that.

He just wants the attention, that's all.

wish the devotionals would stop. sheesh

Post 7 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 6:18:03

firstly, I am not going to move these topics because, while they may be of religious context, some of the responses are not condusive to them being in a safe haven topic.

Secondly, these topics are posted here clearly to gain a response. If people just stop responding, the posts will slip down the list and ultimately disappear.

If people have a genuine response then go ahead, but to post simply to say "stop posting" achieves nothing other than to move the topic to the top of the "topics with new posts" list and to give the op more motivation to keep creating new topics in order to gain the response you are all continuing to give him.

You know, this is kind of ironic, because as much as this guy can say Obama isn't a true Christian, the same could be said for the original poster, for similar reasons. You could argue that if the original poster was a true Christian, he would be able to spread God's word in his own words.

Second of all, until this guy can read minds, he's not truly entitled to say whether or not Obama is a Christian or not. The fact that "uh" is inserted into the speech suddenly means he's lying? I don't think so.

Third of all, if Obama isn't a Christian, I will rejoice, since this may mark the beginning of religion and government being separated. George bush was very extreme in his Christian beliefs, and we all know how that turned out. there's nothing wrong with having a political leader who is also Christian, but some people really need to learn how to keep their religion out of their work, unless the two are directly related.

this is my genuine response to this topic, and for once, I actually have something inteligent to say.

Why should I care what religion The President of The United States follows? Since America has no official religion, it's his business. Now, if this argument were used to state that if he lies about this he could very well lie about other more important things, and then went on to demonstrate this, I would be interested. But aside from the fact that you've shown that he can't speak correctly or answer questions immediately about something in which he professes to believe, what does any of this matter?

Post 10 by BryanP22 (Novice theriminist) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 11:15:06

There's noting that says the president of the United States HAS to be a Christian. And just because Obama says Uh about as much as Beavis and Butthead doesn't necessarily mean he's lying. I think it's sort of funny.

Post 11 by SilverLightning (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 13:17:09

Did anyone else notice that in the first few sentences of the quote from president obama, they put um and uh about every other word. However, in the last part, which was the vast majority of the quote, the word did not arise once? Was I the only one who realized that, and was I the only one who wondered if its possible that this was merely made up, and not actually a quote from president obama?

Post 12 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 13:17:36

the president of the United States has to be a Christian? If so, this law needs to change! this is not promoting separation of church and state!

Post 13 by illumination (Darkness is history.) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 13:52:20

Yes, President Obama is a Christian.. He went to the Church of Christ before becoming president. Remember all that stuff the news was putting out about the preacher there at his church making contraversial comments about him and all that?

Post 14 by DevilishAnthony (Just go on and agree with me. You know you want to.) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 14:40:43

Yes, Cody, I did notice that. Not only that, but is this Keller guy (and RCF too for that matter,) really interested in spreading the word of God? Could it be that the interest is instead, at pointing out flaws in others, bringing them down? Oh yes, quite Godly.

Post 15 by squidwardqtentacles (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 14:42:36

I can't understand the big deal about faith when it comes to talking about American leaders or candidates. Mitt Romney, former governor of the cesspool where I live, is Mormon. So what?! People made a big deal of that when he was being considered as a Republican presidential candidate. So freaking what? I don't care if he's worshipping a Hindu deity, I like the guy! Can he lead or can't he? He sure did eliminate a lot of waste while he was governor.

So Joe Lieberman is Jewish...whoopee! I had to help Mr Sponge with the U S Citizenship test. People have the freedom to practice, or avoid ANY religion. If I like an atheist whose running, I'm voting. Personally I'm sort of like Uma Thurman, who stated she had very little time as a divorced, working mom of two, to practice any faith, but respected those who practiced something, but couldn't understand why folks called themselves by the names of religions they didn't actually practice. I'm a bad practitioner of any faith, but don't disrespect Buddhism or other traditions. People don't greatly fear Cambodian Buddhists on their next airline flight. I think the whole business of people wondering if Obummer is or isn't a Muslim is like "Oo, my, is such and such a celebrity gay or straight?" Who cares?

Post 16 by synthesizer101 (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 16:41:55

There is no such law, just forty four of the last forty four presidents were Christian. Also, the "Keller guy" is RCF. There the same.

Post 17 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 16:43:57

No. RCF didn't write that. he just posted it. RCF's name is Andrew.

Post 18 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Thursday, 07-Oct-2010 16:55:46

Note that there are myths about Gore and bush and Christianity, see Snopes.com and see John 16:3.
when Google can't find it, Snopes is your friend, largely because they provide bibliographic references.
And FWIW Snopes is an interesting read because they've actually found the source to hoaxes.

Post 19 by synthesizer101 (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 08-Oct-2010 23:59:21

So RCF, who is Bill Keller. Your other name or something?

Post 20 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Saturday, 09-Oct-2010 0:35:42

There's one Bill Keller on Wikipedia here.
However that doesn't appear to match the persona we're reading about here.
The first results I get from Google after entering "Bill Keller" (including the quotes, yes I'm old-school and still do boolean queries) returns a link to Bill Keller Ministries, which among other things, makes the following claims:

I don't much care for Obama at all. I hate what he stands for, but I just want to ask you a question. Please understand I'm not hopping on any bandwagon, nor am I attacking you because I'm not. But why don't you put the religion topics on the religion board? The rant board is a place designed to vent, to let off frustrations. So, I strongly advise, but am not telling you what to do, that you should post future devotionals on the religion board.

Post 22 by DevilishAnthony (Just go on and agree with me. You know you want to.) on Saturday, 09-Oct-2010 5:16:43

He posts them here because his goal is not to bring people to christ or even to have a religious disgussion. He puts them here for the simple reason that he likes to cause us all to have long drawn out heated arguements. I think he actually likes the abuse he gets from it. It's his way of suffering for christ. This kid knows exactly what he's doing. If I need to, I could go back and find his post that proves that this is why he does it.

Post 23 by Eleni21 (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Saturday, 09-Oct-2010 9:03:23

To LeoGuardian: Why wouldn't you put your search in quotes if you're looking for an exact phrase? Isn't that the best way to insure that you find exactly what you want instead of things with the words but not in the proper orer?

Post 24 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Saturday, 09-Oct-2010 11:59:31

Yes but many do not anymore and Google's search heuristics is supposed to do a better job of non-Boolean queries - just entering cheese pizza to return results that contain the phrase as a unit. A subject for a different thread perhaps but many don't use Booleans anymore ... I still do

Post 25 by Geek Woman (Owner and Founder of Waldorf PC) on Sunday, 10-Oct-2010 2:49:39

Anthony, that is sad. I'll pray for him.

Andrew, please, if you want to bring people to God, put the topics in the correct board: or, you can ask God to lead you to people who are troubled and need him. With these, you can have discussions with them privately. You'd have to trust implicitly in his spirit you to guide you in what to say, how to say it, and who to give the message to. I don't think that God will like you upsetting people and making them mad on purpose. It is different to suffer for doing the right things. Sure, I can understand that, but to bring it on yourself in a foolish manner is not what God has planned for his people. Not to mention, it really detracts from God, the Bible, and his followers.

On the topic of searching on the Internet, I personally find that Booleans help turn out more specific searches and help me to better obtain the results I want. Hence, I still use them.
